?????
« on: July 30, 2015, 12:33:11 PM »
I was reading Brad\'s 47 yard post and didn\'t want to hijack it so I have a question for anyone that can help>

Somewhere I read that if you sighted most bows in at 7 yards, you would be good out to either 30 or 40 yards. I have no idea where I saw this trick. Any of you guys ever heard of it?

Hadn\'t heard of that Bill but is it going to be like I\'ve read that shooting a rifle at 25 yards is equal to 200 yards given the trajectory?  This is a generalization and know there are many, many factors where this may or may not be accurate.

With the fast bows now, sighting in a 7-10 yards might well keep you in the kill zone out to 30 for an elk but I would doubt it\'d be hitting in the same spot.  Would that mean you\'re shooting high at 20 yards and it \'drops into\' the 30 yard bullseye?

when I was shooting 3d back in GA they set a target up at 8yds and I would always shoot high using my 20yd pin. One of the older club members told me to use my 40yd pin and I did and it was 10 ring every time.

I just did some experimenting and my POI is the same at 7yds as it is at 20yds using my 20yd pin.

I have found the same thing Brad. I practice close shots for turkey season and my 20 yd is good in to 5 yds.

I\'ve never heard of that per say, but your post did remind me of something similar I had read, the trick pin. This it?

I did not just go out and test the theory, but I have found that I hit the same as 10-15 yards with little difference.  That seems to match what Brad was saying.
