Is there a major advantage going with a longer bow over a shorter axle bow

More stable. Brace has more to do with being critical than AtA. I prefer a 34-36 length, but I remember shooting a 48 bow for years.
What doesn't kill you, hurts like hell.

I found there to be an advantage over longer verse shorter.
My first bow was too short for my long DL.

My bow was 28 ATA and my DL was .29.5.
The angles I created were too sharp and the bow was not forgiving.

Now I shoot a 34 ATA and its amazing how much my shooting has cleaned up and how much more forgiving it is.
