I was rereading this thread and I left my part incomplete.
I contacted Iron Will and they sent a brand new main blade and screw. Crap occurs, but they stood behind their head.
I will continue to use the head.
What doesn't kill you, hurts like hell.

thank goodness my 3 dozen 70lb limbs, right hand arrows work on my new set up.  i am overspined but nothing cares.
Goldtip XT Velocities.  3- FFP vanes.  4" wraps,  Easton super nocks.  30grains of inserts at the tip with my 100 gr broadhead of choice.  right now, the Montec i shoot thinks it is a fieldtip.  i suspect the same with my slicktrick standards.
i also have a unhealthy supply of Grim Reapers that i use on turkey and lots of Rage Hypos.  a very bloody mechanical in my experience.  i might try them on turkey this season for kicks.
my total arrow wt is 430gr.  i consider it my do-it-all arrow.

Easton FMJs 400s with 50 grain brass HIT inserts and 100 grain Montec G-5 broadheads and three vain 3" Norway Fusion vanes for me.  Overall weight is ~450 grains and FOC is 12.5%.  They shoot good in the back yard, but haven't had the chance to sling one at an Elk yet.

This will be my first archery elk hunt but I set my whitetail setup up so I could hunt elk as well. I currently shoot Easton 5mm FMJ .300 spine with a 125 GR NAP Killzone. Total arrow weight is 540gr.

I am shooting the Easton Axis 340 5MM, with a 50 grain foc  and 100 grain slick tricks.
Also with a 3 degree twist. Really like the way they fly.

Would a 400 grain arrow be sufficient enough?

Obviously shot placement is key but if I was shooting 400 grains total weight, I would go with a 2 blade cut on contact fixed blade. If you get up above 450 I think youd have more confidence shooting any quality head
Okay. I plan on using slick trick magnums. I use them for whitetail and love how they fly.

400 gr will work just fine, killed several with 390-400gr setups. If you like slick trick as do I, you may look at the slick trick Wicked Trick. That head is pretty stinking slick and leaves a nasty wound channel.

Hit nothing in or out, 15 yard shot stuck in the dirt. No rocks in the whole woods.
Hope they cover it. Emailed them yesterday and still havent heard anything.
Screwed my ViperTricks back on yesterday.
I love my Viper Tricks! You may want to look at the Wicked Trick head as well.

I shoot the carbon express maxima 350 with 100gr Slick Trick standards for a bit more penetration, but seen elk killed with the 100gr magnums. They do fly awesome!

Total weight of my set up is a little less than 400gr. I pull 70# bowtech destroyer 340 at 27 draw. I would measure your arrow speed and find out your kinetic energy, that will tell you if you are using a heavy enough set up for the speed of your arrow.

Clean pass through on an elk last year and a deer last year. Pic shows the arrow stuck in the ground after going through the deer. Ripped off my fletching though.

Good luck!
