30" Beman ICS Hunter 300, 4 blazer vane, 50 grn brass insert and 125 Slick Trick Standard...476 grain arrow.

Slick Trick recommends the standard for elk, to get deeper penetration.

Hunter XT 340's with 100gr G5 Montec heads.

I have no idea what the weight of my arrows are. Should I be concerned? I've taken 2 elk with this setup so far, so it seems to be working. Although, those were both on G5 Striker heads now that I think about it. I swapped to Montecs for no particular reason but now I'm a little worried after watching the BRO crew's recent broadheads testing on YouTube. The Montecs weren't scoring as high as some of the others in their testing. Other's reviews of the Montecs are pretty good though, so I'm not convinced quite yet to spring for another $30-$50 set of broadheads.

I wouldn't be concerned at all. Nothing better to prove an arrow setup works than real life experience. And as far as the Montecs go, a ton of people shoot them successfully on elk, so I wouldn't be concerned there either.

Theres been how many broadhead test through the years?!?  And with each one a different head every time...Least the ones that I have paid attention too!  Have products gotten better, sure just as other equipment has over the years...

Comes down to what you like and what works for your setup...The G5 Striker I shoot didnt fair that well in the recent test, yet Ive shot so many animals with them to include Elk and two Moose, Im not changing...Even with the new V2!

Keep them sharp and spinning true, put it where it needs to go and even a chipped rock will work...
