Free Gear Friday!
« on: January 11, 2019, 10:54:23 AM »
Time for another Free Gear Friday! Scouting season is right around the corner, so how about an opportunity to win a Stealth Cam G45NGX Trail Camera (22 MegaPixel) and a Stealth Cam SD Micro Memory Card Reader?

To enter, simply comment below and let us know if you typically run trail cameras or not. This can be for any animal, not just elk. If you run them, what do you like most about them?

The winner will be drawn Sunday, January 13th at 5:00pm MST. To be eligible to win, you must have a minimum of ten posts on the forum by the time we hold the drawing. Only one post per person on this thread.

Good luck!

I run trail cams as a tool to validate my expectations and check out what's the.

But the element of surprise (good and bad)  is also exciting.

Started with a couple cheap cameras this year.  I really enjoyed checking them, excited to see what they captured.  I hunt a large area covering a few units, so being able to confirm elk in an area I'm interested in can save a lot of frustration.  Hoping to add a couple more cameras this year if hunting budget permits, so would be great to win this one!

Enjoy running multiple cameras in specific area to compare the timing of animals and travel patterns.  Love watch HORNS grow.   Keep copies of pictures and organize them on the computer by date so I can run a slide show from spring to fall and notice particular animals changing and new ones coming in or leaving.

Currently I only have one camera and it is this same model. I've been able to get some cool pics from it. Hoping to add to what I have and get a few more cameras out there this year since Im going to be hunting a new area.

This will be my 4th season running cams. I like being able to use them for determining which area to go to based on frequency of animal visits. It's also fun to see what's in the area!

What I don't like is thieves! I've lost a few already to the 2 legged d-bags.

I like to run cameras. I have about 6 stealth cams and they work great. I mainly put them out for mule deer.

I run cameras for whitetail in Wisconsin. I'm hoping get out to CO for a long weekend in July so I can hang a few cameras. As if elk hunting isn't exciting enough, a multi-camera pull after 2 months in the mountains... I'm already excited. I'm already dreading at least one still in Setup mode.

Haven't used cameras as they are well restricted in Montana, but am interested.  Always enjoy seeing pictures and videos posted by others. Would like to check them out at some new areas I am looking at hunting this next season.

We use trail cameras in south Texas for monitoring out whitetail bucks.  Most of our bucks especially during the off-season are nocturnal.  So the only real way to see whats out there is to have cameras out on trails and at feeding or water stations.

I like to use trail cameras because it gives you eyes when you cant be there. When you only get 1-2 weeks to hunt its critical to not waste any time in an area that they might have already moved out of.
