Your favorite water filtration system
« on: June 27, 2019, 11:19:51 PM »
Lost my Kadydyn.  Due for a new water filtration system.  Thinking of going with the platypus gravity system.  Whats everyone using and opinion? Thanks in advance!

During a 5 day smith river float we used a steripen for 3 people to filter all of our water. Works great!!

If you're doing more than a couple people, I would recommend the Platypus gravity.  If it's just you, I have a MSR Mini pump that works well.

I Bivy hunt mostly. A Sawyer Mini works for me.

way too hard to choose one.

sawyer if there is water to be had.  you're dying a slow death of dehydration if you only water source is to pump water out of a seep in between rocks.

my Steripen goes with me on all my 3rd world vacations.  and local hiking trips.

my Katadyn is the multi tasker.  small seeps, no problem.   not so fun when things freeze.

I use a high-volume gravity filter (can't remember the brand) at spike camp. Several days worth of water. It's great not worrying about pumping water constantly, and it works really well.
I use a Katadyn hiker pro if I'm on the move and it also works great.
