Kind of a long shot but do you still have all this?

1) Kill a bull with my bow
2) I would say anytime I get to be outdoors chasing elk is a success. Obviously accomplishing goal number 1 would be a success as well.

Vortex Diamondback 12x50

I agree with everyone, I usually wear 400g tops if its cold out and Ill be walking. As mentioned above, you can add warmth with socks. As for clothing, being a lot with you. You can always remove layers, but you cant add more if you dont have them.  I usually wear a base layer, an insulating layer, then a jacket. I carry another jacket or vest to put on if I get cold.  On bottom, I usually just go with a heavyweight base layer, pants(typically just jeans during rifle season) and a pair of gaiters if there is snow on the ground.

I have been wearing Sitka in Open Country the last few years.  The pattern works well for where I am hunting and it fits great.

Mountain pants are my favorite. They are hard to beat in my opinion. As for the jacket, Im similar sized and wear XXL. It gives you some room for layering.

I use 100g Rage 2 Blade chisel tip. Shot a cow last year at 45 yards, had a complete pass through and she only went 50 yards. Awesome wound channel and great blood trail. Taken a few mule deer and antelope as well with similar results. Havent had a reason not to trust them yet.

This year, I want to improve my scouting techniques.  I usually start out every year blind and just go into an area where I have found elk before.  I would like to invest in some trail cams and put in a lot more preseason scouting this year.

I have a friend who finally has enough points to possibly draw 201 this year, but he has heard that it burned sometime last summer/fall.  I can't seem to find to find much in my searches.  Anyone have any info on if it did indeed burn and if so, how bad?  Thanks in advance.

General Elk Hunting / Re: Which game bags are you using for elk?

I used the Black Ovis bags last fall.  I was very impressed with them and they were easy to use.  They also come in a nice package that doesn't take up a lot of space in your pack.
