Wow, that's cool. Was the bull limping much? They're incredible animals.

I didn't notice. I only had a clear view of him for about 5 seconds before I shot. I have a picture of another bull in the same area that looks like he was shot as well. I'll try to get it posted this weekend.

New Mexico Bull from last Friday. 15 yard frontal. Someone had taken a shot at him the week before and centered that shoulder knuckle. Maybe that's the reason he was so pissed off that morning. 11 months to prepare for next year....

Hunting Gear / Re: I need help with my Kenetrek boots!

I don't remember the name of it, we picked it up locally and it raised my heel enough to lock it in. Basically foam padding about a quarter inch thick.

That is disheartening. My only suggestion would be a kevlar arm guard of some sort to help ease your mind. That would be my first step, try to protect your body from what your mind thinks might happen. I think they're inexpensive. Treat it like learning to ride a bike again with training wheels, hopefully work to the day you take them off.

Good luck on your journey.

Kenetrek has a youtube video on ways of lacing for different issues, I'd highly recommend watching it. I have similar issues, 13 wide on the left, 12.5 wide on the right, I buy 13 wides. I lace each boot differently and it works for me. That works for my Lowa's. In my snakeboots I wear in the spring I had to put heel padding in my right boot to tighten up the fit.

If you do have a fold developing in the back of the call you may not have a good seal. It's more common in callers that set calls farther back in their mouths and they generally develop as the tape gets softer. Trying a notch isn't going to hurt. Start out small, half the width of the fold and half the depth to see if it flattens out and seals. You can always take more off but can never add it back.

Figured I'd post a picture of my 2020 New Mexico bull since it's been quiet around here lately. Shot him 3 hours into my first day, I was full draw on a 4x 30 minutes earlier that if he would've turned broadside he would be in the photo.

Heading out 2 weeks from today.....

Use it multiple times over the length of your membership. It'll pay for itself in no time.

Hunting Gear / Re: What is your choice in bino cases?

I run the FHF for elk and deer hunting. It's quiet and has enough pockets to hold what I need it to, calls, windchecker, license, etc. I usually run the solohntr one during turkey season because I just need it for my bino's and rangefinder. I'm interested in seeing the new Sitka one when it comes out as well.
