Yes, go to coloRADO no elk in Idaho

No elk in Idaho just a bunch of wolves.  Colorado is your best bet.

Once you declare it the first time and they check the baggage then you wont have to worry about telling the new airline.  It will transfer over and it will be marked as a firearm.  As for ammo i dont know the proper requirements for transporting ammo.

There are a lot out there.  I also watch the world elk calling championships to get an idea of how to call.

General Elk Hunting / Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest CLOSED
« on: August 30, 2015, 11:07:45 AM »
If you are hunting Idaho in the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest it is closed to all people due to fire.  Just FYI

Shoot the first legal one.  Last year I passed up a nice raghorn at 30 yards broadside on day one and by day 14 I was regretting not shooting that bull since I never did see another bull my whole trip.

I carry a Tenzing pack for a day pack. Last year when my buddy put his elk down we quartered and deboned. My buddy carries a Tenzing also. We both took a back strap and a front shoulder, but he had to carry the rack and I got both bows. Dropped the meat and packs at the truck and got the heavy frame meat haulers. We went back and carried the remaining meat out. Also got our trekking poles for the second heavy load. Wewere a little over two miles across the mountain from the truck.

I would not go back the first trip without carrying part of the meat.

Good Luck hunting!

Same thing for me expect different packs.
