I believe he is referring to centering your sight housing to your peep view.
At least thats what I do

I think centering the pin is a relic from when there were no round sight housings or no housing at all.....back in the day.

You can still shoot effectively that way, but centering your housing with the peep promotes accuracy. I try to fit the housing just inside the peep. Having a dovetail sight and/or a peep with the changeable apertures helps this, especially the latter.

Hunting Gear / Re: What Bow to shoot?
« on: February 20, 2019, 10:24:51 PM »
I should mention, the last 3 years, Ive shot PSE Premonition HD, PSE Bow Madness Epix, and now Elite Option 6. I liked each progressively more.  I still have the last two, but am trying to sell the Epix. Its a really good bow though. Ive tested a couple Mathews, Hoyts, Xpeditions, and other PSEs. The only other thing I liked was Halon 6 and Hoyt Defiant. My next will likely be another 35 Elite or Mathews that can double as a target and backup hunting bow to my Option 6.

I'm considering: Slick Trick SS Magnum, Innerloc Falcon in the "normal" price range. Iron Will and Solid Broadheads in the "premium" range.

General Elk Hunting / Re: Another Free Gear Friday!
« on: August 10, 2018, 06:57:21 AM »
1. Considering I didnt draw a tag, my goals are to make it through the elk101 course and be in shape by Next elk season.

2. I would consider it a success if I am able to craft a good elk arrow setup and prove it on some hogs or whitetail.

Campfire / Re: Heads Up Decoy - Giveaway!

1. I do not currently use decoys although I have considered it.
2. I believe decoying is an effective technique.
3. I would most likely use it during the rut.

Any flatlanders on this thread? I just want to know whose workouts I should pay attention to. Im an aspiring Western hunter, but Im taking the conditioning a little slow because of my age, other health issues, and working out hasnt been my thing in a while. Nonetheless, elk hunting is on my list.  I may start with something tamer, like antelope in 2018.

I'm doing all my training this year at sea level (sadly)
No worries though. My biggest focus areas come down to cardio, core, and legs.

If you can knock out some serious cardio workouts, then your acclimation time in the mountains will take much less time than someone who is out of shape.
BUILD THAT LUNG POWER!

The legs and core kind of go hand in hand. They are important no matter whether you're living at sea level or 10K, but it's a focus area for me in general when it comes to elk hunting.

Where would you consider antelope hunting?
Thx for the perspective. Im considering Wyoming.
