western side is very heavy timber and crazy steep.  I havent been in there since the fire a year or two back, but I know the Hermosa Wilderness got hit hard by fire.

I recommend you call CDOW in Durango for advice on it.

yep.  Circle K - Al Cannon is your guy if you're hunting in there.

he has a pretty big operation (or did the last time I was there).

man Randy, you are right.  CO goat tags are a rare thing!

I would have thought that being physically between NM (has plenty) and WY (has all of them....), CO would have a pretty huge antelope population and fairly easy tags, but NOT SO!

many units/hunts have <10 tags allocated after a brief review of tags.  I'll keep digging. Looks like it may be a while before I get to hunt them!

thanks for your reply.

Other Big Game Hunting / 2021 CO antelope unit recommendations

I started putting in for Antelope PP's a long time ago just cause it was easy.

I now find I'm sitting on 8 PP's, and I may want to use them in 2021.

if anyone has a recommendation on destination, please let me know.  I know most of the CO goat herd is east of 25.

from my review of the draw results, it looks like it takes NR's a TON of points to draw some units where there are relatively few tags, and not very many points in other units.  Since I'm sitting on so many PPs, I'd like something that takes >5 PP's if possible.

I'm VERY open to recommendations. I'm really an elk hunter, who just realized that it may be time to hunt goats cause I have enough PP's to do so. :)

thanks gents, and be well.

I use a Kelty REdwing 50.  My son uses a Kelty Redwing 44.  I really like the configuration and price of about $100 +/-.

other packs may be better, but not for $100.

thanks sir.  they cut my draw tag count by another 10% this year.  might be seeing some point creep soon.

while it ain't good news, it's at least good to know....

Lynns first bull.  stinks that we didnt get a picture of it with just him and the bull, but he was alone when he shot it and didnt take pics til it was in camp.

my daughter is going to do a euro mount (skull boil) for him.  pretty handy for a 14 year old kid.

me with bear, including the douchebaggy "paw/claw" pic.

swore to myself I'd never take a picture like that, but couldn't resist in the end.  :o   I was more than a little bit excited.

we had slices of backstrap, and bear turned out to be pretty danged good (with as much garlic as Scott used in the prep, at least....). YMMV

next up was my friend scott, who shot this stud muley.

it was kinda chilly that day.

Scott is not in the witness protection program despite that first pic....

yes, that game cart is a reformed mountain bike.  brakes are an important feature!
