Scouting / Trail Cameras / Two camera placement
« on: March 30, 2018, 01:00:58 PM »
I only have 2 trail cams. Given that, where would be the highest value set-up locations for those cams? Over/near water holes? Trails? What else you have in mind?

Archery / Single versus multi pin sight set-up
« on: March 30, 2018, 12:55:42 PM »
How many folks here have deviated from the multi-pin sight to a single pin? I hear lots of specialists and successful hunters talk about a single pin, but it seems that most situations I am in demand for faster aiming and that taking the time, amidst all of the chaos of the hunt, to move that single around would jam me up. Thoughts?

Other Big Game Hunting / Bear tags
« on: March 30, 2018, 12:53:48 PM »
I'd like to tuck a bear tag into my pocket this year as I elk and mullie hunt. Last year I glassed a massive black bear in my unit here in CO. Are most people who opt to have the tag on them doing so in anticipation of seeing a bear on a previous day's gut pile from their harvested elk/deer? Or are they actively pursuing these bears while they elk/deer hunt? Cervids and bear hunts seem drastically different.

Elk Hunting Tips & Tactics / Solo archer set-ups
« on: March 30, 2018, 12:49:36 PM »
I enjoyed Cory's set-ups for solo archers, but I wonder if anyone has any alternative set-ups for the solo archer? It's quite a chess game that I ended up playing with some indivual bulls and their respective small harems, and to be frank, I was outwitted!

Physical Conditioning / Jail-house workouts
« on: March 30, 2018, 12:48:00 PM »
What is your best go-to workout for the home or backyard and which absolutely destroys you as you head downhill from March to August and work on the ol' body?

General Elk Hunting / Care of hide
« on: March 30, 2018, 12:45:25 PM »
I did a Google sweep, but wanted to ask the forum how they prefer to handle/care for the hide of an elk upon harvesting the animal? I'd love to retain one for the memory of it all as it is something I can have here that ties me to the hunt and lets my kiddos get into the world as they are still a bit young.

General Elk Hunting / Sidehilling
« on: March 30, 2018, 12:42:54 PM »
When you are battling winds and chasing a bull and some cows, do you find it best to side-hill? Or do you prefer to beat them to an eventual position to gain the advantage?
