Title: Mt Lion Hunt
Post by: Okieelk on February 11, 2020, 09:02:33 PM
Hey Guys,

A good fiend of my just filled his tag on a Mt Lion hunt in Colorado today. Before he left I let him know I wanted all the meat I could get,  knowing he hadnít thought it was edible. Needless to say he is headed back to OK tomorrow with a cooler full of meat!

I do know the meat needs to be cooked to 165 to kill the trichinosis, and itís allegedly a lot like pork. Iíve got some recipes already churning in my head but wanted to get some additional ideas from folks that may have cooked it before.

Let me know!!!
Here is him and his cat.

Yep it is white meat and it does taste similar to pork but a little dryer. I've had it a couple of times.

Yes definitely eat! It's been chewy, but cut it then, pound it, flour, egg, Italian bread crumbs and fry for a great schnitzel! Bagged my first one this year, what a hoot.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20200308/c51f25efe41960619397ea69f00871e1.jpg)

I got one while elk hunting that showed up 20 yards from me. I loved the meat.  Can't remember doing anything fancy with the meat, but it worked whatever I tried.
