« on: March 26, 2019, 06:23:43 PM »
Does anyone know if I can buy a point this year if I drew a general tag?

Campfire / This is it!
« on: March 21, 2019, 05:08:19 AM »
After 30+ years with Illinois DNR, today is my last day. It has been an interesting career for sure. Turn in all my equipment today, except the truck. Taking next week off, then start a 75 contract that is at my discretion.
Looking forward to planning hunting trips for the entire season not just trying to pick the best 2 weeks.

Hunt Planner / Research question
« on: December 27, 2018, 04:44:01 AM »
Ive been picking up points in Wyoming and Arizona and looking at cashing in the Wyoming points this year.
Ive picked out 3 units that I feel I have a chance to draw. This is all based off the stats on Wyomings site.
My question is, how much research do you do prior to drawing the tag? Ive always hunted OTC in the past, so I knew I was going and jumped into the research and recon.
I want to make a solid choice, but not waste my time. Any thoughts?

Archery / Crossover stabilizer
« on: April 19, 2018, 05:31:42 PM »
Got my new Crossover 821 stabilizer the other day. Today was the first decent day to shoot outside, so I took it out to try. Color me impressed.
My E35 was more stable in my hand and the pin didnt float at all. I only extended 2 of the 3 sections. I believe its a keeper.
It looks like I need to shoot at different spots or it gonna be hard on arrows. This was first 2 shots at 30 yards.

Hunting Gear / Blade angle vs penetration
« on: March 12, 2018, 05:23:13 PM »
Was looking at my ViperTricks and Stingers last night. Looks to me, with the shallower blade angle, the Stinger would penetrate deeper. It should use less KE to get the whole head inside the hide. Am I over thinking this. Cabin fever? Any input?

Elk Hunting Tips & Tactics / The Linguists
« on: July 30, 2017, 05:44:34 AM »
Just finished watching, Wow! Thank you Cory. Listening to the pioneers that I knew when I started was simply amazing. The old footage of Larry D and Wayne brought back memories. Larry's was the first diaphragm calls I bought. Went to a small seminar that Wayne put on and I remember him says "You can call any animal, you just have to know what to say.
Thanks again Cory.

Campfire / Is it just me?
« on: July 26, 2017, 04:41:31 AM »
Is it just me, or is there all of a sudden a lot of administrators or "global moderators" on here? Who the heck are they and why do we need them? Seems like most of the ol timers have moved on or shut up. Sad.

« on: March 20, 2017, 03:13:55 PM »
I need another pack like I need and hole in my head, but I'm looking at the K2000. I'm just wondering about the roll up top bag closure. Any comments from owners out would be helpful. Any issues, love it, hate it and why. Thanks guys.
