The results should be out soon I would think especially with them listing the leftover on the 5th.

General Elk Hunting / Preference points and tags
« on: April 02, 2020, 10:28:21 AM »
Well, just got off the phone with a friend that works for the CDOW. He said that the applications are way down this year due to the virus!! I got my PP in for deer and elk and chose a second license as a back up, that is if the Military is going to let me take off.

Fingers crossed my friends.

General Elk Hunting / Left over Buck Tag
« on: August 07, 2018, 09:41:45 AM »
Well, I am shocked to say that after 28 long minutes waiting for the servers to refresh (More nerve racking than anything), I was able to pick up a left over buck tag.
There were only eight available and I thought there was no chance.

I always see a ton of big bucks where I archery elk hunt. Let's hope that stays the same this year!!

General Elk Hunting / Holy Crap
« on: August 05, 2018, 08:52:14 AM »
Well,
Only five days until I am back home with my family after being gone for 15 months. Will spend a week at home and then head to Colorado for the first week of Archery.
I check in for my residency portion of anesthesia on the 10th of Sept, so I need to get some hunting in. I am blessed to have an awesome wife that wants me to get my "Mountain Time" in. I knew she was awesome, because I actually met her when I was elk hunting. Unfortunately, due to my youngest starting high school she will not be able to come with me. However, she spent the whole summer with my son hiking through Canada while I was out here in DC hitting the books.
Have to love the Military life!

Shoot straight my friends and may the odds forever be in your favor!

I actually really like these guys, but time after time I see that guy Ty on there making the worst shots over and over.

I know this is my opinion, but there is always an excuse like, "hit a limb, I didn't have that much time to practice, etc."

Not wanting to start anything, it is just during my free time and longing to be out in the mountains again, I always watch my Youtube favorite hunts.

Here is some footage that I was able to find of Ty's bad shots. Just posted a couple and I don't know how to embed them.

Like I said, I am not starting anything, just don't show that footage until you are confident in your shooting ability.

General Elk Hunting / Bosque Del Oso
« on: October 01, 2017, 05:57:42 AM »
So I have a buddy that has enough points for a tag in this area. He was asking me about it. I know that there are monster bulls down there, but I have heard a lot of negative things about hunting there.
Any info would be much appreciated. He is a Former Green Beret and can hike anywhere, so keep that in mind.

General Elk Hunting / Unit 201
« on: September 23, 2017, 04:35:45 PM »
Well I was just looking at my points online and get real down seeing how much the point creep has made its way up there. As of this last year, I have 13 for Elk and the same for deer. When I first started putting in for this area, there were only 13 points needed. Now, it is up to 20/21. I can draw a Muley tag with what I have now, but really want to hunt in Area 2 3rd Rifle with that, which takes 15.

I really am disappointed in Colorado making deer draw completely. Even my old stomping grounds around Rye takes preference points to draw!
