I have been interested in starting to build my own arrows. So I was curious who builds their own arrows, and what the benefit is over ordering them online or getting them from a shop

Hunting Gear / Exo vs Mystery Ranch
« on: November 08, 2018, 10:43:42 AM »
I was curious how the Exo 5500 stacks up against the Mystery Ranch Metcalf. I have the Metcalf, but being a lover of packs and after watching the born and raised outdoors series and seeing them perform for those guys it got me wondering if anyone has used both and had some input on how they compare to each other?

Hunting Gear / What do you carry for a day hunt?
« on: September 14, 2018, 07:19:55 AM »
I was curious what everyone packs in their day pack for hunting from a base camp and going out for the day? I went on an archery elk hunt last year and packed way to much stuff everyday because I wasn't sure what I would actually need or use, so for our rifle hunt this year I want to cut back on what I bring out with me. I have a general idea what I am going to bring. Just looking for other ideas and to compare loads. It will be first rifle season in Colorado

Trying to bring the best all around outer layer for 1st rifle for Colorado. Does anyone have any experience with the guide pants and jacket? Hoping it is warm enough for chilly temps but not so warm that I will be sweating and end up cold while glassing

Hunt Planner / 1st rifle season CO unit 18
« on: July 30, 2018, 09:06:16 PM »
Heading out for my first trip to Colorado this year. Never hunted here  and was looking for any tips for this unit. I know it's not the greatest for harvest ratio, but am hoping to  find some elk and get my first one. Was going to  bring my ranger to try and get away  from main  roads and crowds and to get back a little before hitting the ground. Are there logging roads and such to access? Restrictions on UTV's in  that area?  Just trying to get some general info or tips. This will  be my second  elk  hunt.  First trip was Utah during archery season last  year with no success.  Needless to say, I am addicted
