Elk Hunting Tips & Tactics / Re: Backup Plan
« on: July 15, 2019, 11:17:01 AM »
Mine are all Mixed, I like to have as many option as I can, spots to me are Drainage's,  bedding, water Etc, I like to have 5 or so area's in my unit that I know where multi "spots" are located that should hold Elk. This could be a mile or 2 from each or 10 plus, I break my unit up that I hunt. This way if the hunting Pressure or even the wind is bad in one spot I can head to a different location and keep at it with out having to stress about not knowing the land.

With my Bow I am going to take the front shot close to where the other dots are for sure.

I am shooting the Easton Axis 340 5MM, with a 50 grain foc  and 100 grain slick tricks.
Also with a 3 degree twist. Really like the way they fly.

Scouting / Trail Cameras / Re: Scouting for a backpack hunt

I to have a Elk tag in Az this year and have been scouting. I just bring my day pack, but when I scout for my back country spots I always bring extra water and drop it at or close to area's that I will be later. That way i don't have to worry about water when the hunt starts.
