All great things to think about. Running up n down these hills seems like a huge consideration. I was thinking if a wallow stake out would make any difference with a decoy. Probably get in the way like it was said.  Thank you all.

I an currently 280. I was at 297. My doc wants me at 250. I live in Co and "was" walking 3-4 miles daily. I need to restart this and use my weight machine. I would like to surpass my Doc's advice and be below 250. How much below i don't really care. I would also like to be able to hike 5 miles with a full pack (45-50lbs). I am 6'1, but am very muscular build. So I do not lose weight easily and tend I build muscle, which is very frustrating. Also I am no spring chicken. But making this public commitment will help me get off my fat butt. Thank you for this challenge.

Thanks CoHunter.
I have signed up and am reading, studying the University of Elk Course from Corey. It IS loaded with info. Just been a long time since this lack of confidence. But as you say, I guess that comes from experience.

Take care and good luck.

Hello All, Harold here. I am class of 76 sonic am sure I have quite a few years on many. Originally from upstate NY and Maine. Hunted for over 40 yrs, whitetails. I relocated to Co in 2014., Work for DoD, sent to Germany for 2 yrs and finally and able to dedicate time to Elk hunting. Went this year, had some pretty nerve racking experiences but discovered I am hands on learner. I read and study all I find, but in the field I have all kinds of uncertainty and 2nd guessing. Have been acquiring PPs for 6-7 yrs, but do not want to waste them until I feel at least a little confident. I am not even sure where to start asking questions. I also hunt alone. I know this makes things extremely challenging but things are what they are. Just thought I would throw this out there. Any recommendations suggestions would be greatly appreciated. My compass is spinning and I need some direction. Thanks. H

Thank you Randy
I am new to Elk hunting. Have read a ton, but realize I am a hands on learner. I am also an older hunter so things come at their own pace.
Congratulations again and good luck in the future
