Hoping to get lucky and draw a moose tag within the next 3 years as after that, odds go from horrible to astronomical!

A friend of mine says he recently talked to a guy from NM who uses something like this and actually shot a deer last year around 120 yds!

Assuming you travel thru Denver you can hit Red Rocks amphitheater as it's very close to I-70.  Might want to check their schedule as you can usually get in if your not too late in the afternoon.  Concerts most days in the summer would not allow you in if you're too close to the start time.  Also a great place to do a quick workout on the stairs as quite a few people do that!
Glenwood Springs hot springs is also a pretty popular place if you're travelling that way.
Many of the ski resorts also run a chair lift in the summer if you want to catch a good view!

I use Nikon Monarchs or Leica Trinovids.  They'd love a new home!

Trying to find out about my UEH membership.  I try to log in and is says invalid.  I've tried to reset my password but it doesn't seem to be working.  I signed up initially then resigned up again so not sure when my membership expires?  Any suggestions for figuring that out?

Yes.  That's what I was looking for.  THANKS :upthumb:

I saw on the Crossover Stabilizer review that there is a discount available to UEH members but it didn't mention what it was.  Thought I saw it a while ago somewhere but didn't recall where I saw it.  Is there still a discount code I could use for the Crossover Stab?  Thanks!

Was thinking about getting one also.  Do you happen to know the discount code that Cory mentions is available to UEH members?

TC Maxiballs, Thor, Hornady FPB, No Excuses, Bullshops are a few I'd recommend.  NOT Powerbelts for elk.  I know MANY people that have lost elk with powerbelts including myself twice!  Not saying you can't kill an elk with one and some may be better than others but they have significant problems on elk so I'd suggest you research them.

Also, consider that many people ask officers about where to hunt.  I'm guessing they tell you the same area he tells everyone else so you might find a lot more hunters in the area he suggests!   If it's tougher hunting conditions, you'll likely have less hunters, not that elk will be there but i kinda like to be away from others in general.

Actually my best advice for a new hunter is to subscribe to EHU here on Elk 101 as it is by far the best resource covering everything from A to Z.  My next best advice is to start training now focusing mostly on legwork.  Start slow and increase frequency as elk hunting is usually tough even if you are in decent shape.

Last years CO elk from a solo backpack hunt.  Took me over 2 weeks!

I've been backpack training throughout the winter maybe once a week and have picked it up a bit.  Weight will increase as will the frequency as fall draws near!!!

I'm most excited this year about trying to help a buddy get a bull in WY as it's been probably 10 years or more for him!  He drew a tag I had a couple years ago and I'm looking forward to going back to help him probably more than for my hunts!
