MEET COREY JACOBSEN
I’m sure you are probably asking yourself what makes me qualified to provide an elk hunting course…and that is a great question, and one that is difficult for me to answer. I am not a professional elk hunter, or a professional educator. I am simply a husband, a father of three awesome children, an engineer by education, and a general contractor by profession. But I am also a lifelong elk hunter with a passion for elk and elk hunting, and a passion for seeing others be successful!
My intent with this online course is not to “wow” you with my elk hunting knowledge or success. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. I still consider myself to be a student of this amazing world of elk hunting. I simply want to share what I’ve learned in 30+ years of elk hunting with you in the hopes that you will be able to experience the thrill of elk hunting and the taste of consistent success.
I have learned that confidence is vital to consistent success, and this course is designed to increase your confidence in every aspect of elk hunting. I will share every single resource, tactic, strategy, mistake, success, and motivation that I have found – and that I use myself – in the hopes that your confidence will grow to the point where you expect to be successful each season.
I have been fortunate to be crowned the RMEF World Elk Calling Champion 9 times, and have finished in the top 5 in the Professional Division at the RMEF World Championship Elk Calling contest 17 times in the past 18 years. In 2013, I was even crowned the Elk Calling “Champion of Champions” by the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. However, none of these elk calling accomplishments make me – or anyone else – a great elk hunter. I fully recognize that success on the stage doesn’t necessarily relate to success in the field, and I live for the “real” contest that takes place in the elk woods every September.
My involvement in elk calling contests opened several doors for me, and in 2008, I launched the website Elk101.com and was blessed to be able to turn my passion for elk hunting into my profession. For the past 10+ years, I have had the privilege of travelling across the country teaching others how to call and hunt elk, as well as interacting with tens of thousands of passionate elk hunters every year through the multiple platforms that Elk101.com has created. Through hundreds of seminars and classes, I have been able to share my love of elk and elk hunting with many others, face to face. But it has been difficult to physically keep up with such a busy schedule, and demonstrating and teaching something as amazing as elk hunting in a 45 minute seminar or similar venue has only allowed me to touch the tip of the iceberg….until now.

How long will it take me to complete the course?That completely depends upon how thoroughly you engage with the information. However, there are nearly 40 webpages of detailed information, tactics, strategies, and instruction, so you aren't going to simply sit down in one evening and make it through the course. Realistically, if you are absorbing the information and taking notes, you should plan on an hour or so each day for 2-3 weeks. You could easily sit down and skim through everything in 5-6 hours, but to watch all the video components and truly learn from the material, it's going to be a process.
Can I retake the course once I've completed it?Absolutely! You will have full access to the course for one year from the date you sign up.
Will there be quizzes or tests or completion certificates?No, there are no quizzes, tests, or homework. However, the real test will be given this fall when you put this information to use... :-)
Do I need an internet connection to access the course?Yes. The Online Course is a web-based program that requires an internet connection.

Hunters pay hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on licenses, tags, boots, backpacks, weapons, fuel, and other gear every year. I truly feel that investing a couple tanks worth of gas into YOU is a pretty worthwhile investment that will bring more success than any other expenditures you might make.
Are individual Modules available to purchase separately?Not at this time. You will get access to the full course for one year when you sign up.
How is this course different from the original University of Elk Hunting DVD?The University of Elk Hunting DVD that was produced by Elk101.com touched briefly on some of the same topics that the ONLINE COURSE covers. However, there is so much more that is able to be accomplished through a digital platform like a website than could ever be covered in a DVD. Additionally, one of the common comments regarding the DVD was that hunters were ready for more advanced information. The ONLINE COURSE takes all of the original information and refines it, and then builds upon it in multiple ways. Think of the DVD as an introduction to or overview of elk hunting. Think of the ONLINE COURSE as the encyclopedia of elk hunting!
If I sign up for the course, do you guarantee success?I wish I could, but I can't. Achieving success is still up to you. I will provide you with everything I know about elk hunting, and I am certain that if the information is applied correctly, it will absolutely increase the confidence and success of anyone who signs up.
